Loot & Loot System

Loot & Loot System

What is our loot system

Machin Shin has recently changed from a DKP system to an EPGP system for loot priority. The advantages for this system is that it works off of a ratio rather than a pool that is accumulated. This allows it to easily be used interchangeably for 25 man raids as well as 10 man encounters.

All EPGP will be tracked in-game and displayed in the guild roster. If you have questions about your score, please talk to an officer outside of our scheduled raiding times.

EPGP stands for Effort Points/Gear Points. Effort Points (EP) quantify the effort each member put towards the, hopefully common, guild goals. Gear Points (GP) quantify what loot each member got back in return. Loot priority (PR) is computed as the quotient of the two:

PR = EP/GP

The person with the higher PR gets the first say on loot. As a result, the more effort you put the more gear you receive. As a matter of fact, the gear you receive is proportional to the effort you put. EPGP is based on this simple principle, but there are some complexities that need to be dealt with which will be covered below.

For more detail on how an EPGP system works, please read more about it on the official EPGP website.

Earning
You earn EP by being in raid or on standby and earn a bonus for being on time and another for staying for the entirety of a raid. Points are also given for boss kills. There are also several other ways to earn EP including donating to the guild and recruiting raiders. Other opportunities may arise to earn additional EP.

The following table illustrates the amount of EP earned on a typical raid night.

On-Time bonus = 800
Each 15 min = 300
Entire raid bonus = 1200
Boss Kills = 1000
1st Boss Kills = 2000
Old Content = 50% reduction on boss kills

Spending
Although you are not really spending EP, you can think of GP as spending points you have accumulated. Gear acquired from raiding will have fixed amounts of GP associated with them, if you win an item the appropriate amount of GP will be added to your total. Offspec items will cost approximately 30% of the cost of main spec items, rounding up to the nearest whole number.

GP will also be used for other deductions, such as guild provided enchants for raiders or disciplinary actions. GP will not be accumulated for gear won in bonus rolls, as a BOE drop, or obtained from an outside source, such as LFR.

GP Cost for Enchants:
80 for each Sha Crystal
80 per other enchant

Loot Distribution
Once we have downed a boss, next comes the sweet, sweet loot. The master looter (ML) will announce in raid chat the full list of items the items available for bid and then each item separately. We ask that members refrain from linking gear while the ML is trying to distribute loot to avoid confusion.

You will need to have a minimum of 40,000 EP before you can win a bid against another player who is over the minimum. While we appreciate new people in our raids, we wish to reward members who are dedicated over those who are just beginning. We will not let a drop be disenchanted when a raid member can use it though, so don’t be afraid to announce your interest. 40,000 points represents roughly a 2 week period of being on time and staying for the entire raid.

As each individual item is announced, if you are interested in trying to obtain the item, you should write in the raid chat if the item would be for your mainspec (MS) or offspec (OS) in the following manner:

/ra MS
-or-
/ra OS

Keep in mind that guild rank does not matter! The reason for this is if someone has put in the time and effort, it will be reflected in the PR score.

The player with the higher loot priority (PR) who also meets the minimum EP will win the item as long as there is no MS/OS conflict (see Special Priority below).

Please note that both EP and GP will be added in real time as this will affect your PR.

Special Priority
The only caveat to the PR standings is that a player who needs an item for their main spec will trump a player who needs an item for their offspec, even if the OS player has a higher PR. OS cost is reduced for this reason and is approximately 30% of the cost for MS items.

Players will need to limit themselves to 1 Mainspec and, if applicable, 1 Offspec only.

BOE Drops and Patterns
BOE Drops are handled differently than other loot. We do not use PR to determine the winner, instead BoE's are purchased with gold bidding in Raid chat. Raiders and up can start their bids at 2000g. Members can start their bidding at 4000g. Applicants are not eligible to bid, but if no one ends up bidding, they can whisper an officer inquiring about buying it from the guild. You are allowed to increase the highest bid by a minimum of 100g and when no one is willing to go higher, the highest bidder wins the BoE and pays the loot master.

You must equip the item or learn the pattern immediately! You are not purchasing the drop to resell or for an alt.

Example:
Code: Select all
Raider1: 2000g
Member2: 4000g
Raider1: 4100g
Member2: 4500g
Raider1: Too rich for my blood, grats
MasterLooter: Member2 wins for 4500g

Other Information
At the end of each raiding week, there is a 10% tax applied. This is to award recent effort more than past effort and help prevent point hoarding.

Inactivity will not cause your PR to drop unless it is extreme, however you will eventually slide under the EP bidding minimum.
